The Void-Of-Course Moon

The Moon travels through all twelve signs during a month, passing through each sign for 2 ½ days each.

The Moon is said to be 'Void-Of-Course' after it makes its last aspect to another planet in its current sign. It is almost no longer Void-Of-Course when the Moon changes sign, except when the Moon doesn't make any major aspects to other planets, then it's immediately void-of-course upon entering the new sign.

The Void-Of-Course period may last for only a few minutes or it may last for a day or two. This period is a time when we can really feel unconnected and without direction.

Award for Jerry Lewis

Legendary comedian Jerry Lewis is to be awarded the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award at the 81st Annual Oscar Ceremony on February 22nd 2009.

According to the BBC, the 82 years old American actor of the 'Nutty Professor' has raised over 2 billion dollars (£1.3 billion) for the Muscular Dystrophy Association through his annual Labour Day Telethon.

Jerry Lewis is not just a man with a great sense of humour, he is also a man with great humanity, and that is shown through his generous Venus-Jupiter conjunction in Aquarius, the sign of brotherhood.

Sagittarius: The Explorer

Sagittarius is the most cheerful, easy-going, animated and optimistic sign of the zodiac.

Whatever Sagittarians want to do, they want to do it BIG. Walt Disney and Steven Spielberg are perfect examples.

Like the Centaur, - depicted by a man with the body of a horse -, Sagittarians need a great deal of freedom, and need to feel free to 'gallop' in the 'open field'... Some Sagittarians make keen travellers and explorers; others have an interest in religion, spirituality, foreign languages, outdoor sports or philosophy.

They often enjoy exploring different places and cultures and stimulating challenges that expand their horizons as well as seeking the truth.

Yesterday's Gemini SuperMoon

Yesterday's Full Moon (Sun and Moon opposition) was the biggest and brightest of the year, according to NASA, as it reached Perigee, i.e. its closest approach to Earth.

A perigee Moon (or SuperMoon) powerfully affects the pull on tides, tectonic activity and can trigger extreme weather patterns. Its influence takes effect 3 days before and after the SuperMoon.

In the news yesterday and today: Torrential rain has caused floodings in parts of England (Wales, Devon, Somerset and Scotland), as well as Italy (Rome). Italy, Switzerland and France have also been hit by heavy snowfall.

The Jupiter-Moon-Venus conjunction

Currently in the sky, there is a very rare alignment between Venus-Jupiter and the Moon in the last decan of Capricorn.

This rare alignment won't be seen for another 44 years...

The Venus-Jupiter conjunction in Capricorn is particularly beneficial, as it makes a trine to Saturn in Virgo, making it an excellent time to consolidate a long-term project or an existing relationship.

Mumbai Massacre

During the 60 hours of chaos and carnage in the terrorist attacks of Mumbai (Bombay) in India, 200 people were killed and 295 were injured.

The attacks started on November 26th, a day before the arrival of Pluto into the Cardinal sign of Capricorn, and before the change of direction from Uranus, planet of the unexpected.

Pluto's influence was particularly intensified at the time as it was in the very last degrees of Sagittarius, and as Mars, the warrior, was aligned with the Sagittarius New Moon of November 27th, and Mercury, and challenging Jupiter (for excesses).

A Typical Gemini...

'Did you know that the Moon is moving away from the Earth at
3.4 cm a year?'.

This is what my Gemini husband pointed out to me after watching a documentary on television.

I thought this was a typical Gemini question! (Although this could also be very Aquarian in essence).

Even though he has Leo rising, it is amazing how sometimes someone's Sun Sign can suddenly become so obvious.

For the non-astrologers, Gemini Sun signs are chatty, restless, curious, knowledgeable, logical and can be superficial, among other attributes.

Back in January, I wrote an astrological portrait of Gordon Ramsay called 'Cooking along with Gordon Ramsay'.

Rumour has it now that he has had a 7 year affair with Sarah Symonds, the ex-mistress of best-selling author Jeffrey Archer.

Gordon Ramsay and his wife Tana have 4 children aged 5 to 9 and have been married for 12 years. Ramsay was also voted Celebrity Father of the Year in 2006.

It appears the couple did not demand a financial settlement from each other, but they have agreed on joint custody of their sons Rocco and David.
It is interesting to note that this morning, at the time of the divorce finalisation, the Moon in Virgo was conjunct to Saturn, and quincunx Neptune...
